I went to the Red Cross today to donate, but was deferred for iron that was one point too low. That happens about every other time I go. It's this damn endometriosis that causes me to lose too much blood. I'll take some iron supplements and try again in a week. I saw [livejournal.com profile] willco's SIL working there.

I finished up some Christmas shopping today and got gifts made for my MIL and SIL. I made homemade hot cocoa mix and put it in hand- decorated glass jars. (We were all supposed to make gifts this year) My Mom and Dad came over and brought Yule gifts for the boys. Tonight we took the boys and a friend out looking at Christmas lights at Spunky Creek, a tragically overdecorated housing addition in Catoosa. Tomorrow we're going shopping for stuff for Christmas dinner. All very wholesome, no?

It was terrifying, as always. But the people with the teddy bear ferris wheel and the bicycling snowman and other assorted mechanical holiday horrors appear to have moved. And a frightened suburb rejoices...

We've got a neighborhood here which re-christens itself Candy Cane Lane every year around this time. Candy Cane Lane is actually a cul-de-sac in which the annoyingly competitive residents vie for the title of most jolly every year by crowding their tiny lawns with the flotsam and jetsam of holidays past. Its like Norman Rockwell threw up on Liberace. They made snow out of plywood last year!

Spunky Creek, eh? What time of day did you go? Did you see Santa? My SIL took her 2 grandkids and Santa is apparently there from 6-8 in the evening. He comes out to the car (if you have kids with you) and sticks his head in the window. Says something about how he remembers this one and how much she's grown since last year. Oh and look how big your brother has gotten. Then he cuts a deal that if they'll be good, not make any messes, and help whenever they can - he'll promise them a good christmas. :) Isn't that amazing! I wanna go so bad, but WHEN?! I am SO swamped getting ready for giftmas! I, too, will be glad when it is over. And I think [livejournal.com profile] eljoebo would agree with the bleeding ears thing, He doesn't seem to like the carols much, either.

Yep, Santa was there. He told the kids they were still on his good list, so far, but they had to be nice to mommy and clean up after themselves and not fight or anything because he's watching them. It was funny. They really took it seriously. We had taken Jack's little friend Addy and her Dad with us and all three of us grownups were having a hard time not breaking up.

Tell [livejournal.com profile] eljoebo bah humbug for me. :-) We'll break out the headbanger music while everyone else is enduring endless fa la las.
