So today Jack was so sweet that I started to get a little choked up. We had a busy morning running errands with [livejournal.com profile] oldmanpops and when we were about done we were near a B&N and the boys asked if we could stop. When we got there, I took Davey in the back to play with the trains in the kids' section while Jack went browsing. In a few minutes Jack walked up and handed me a little box of Godiva truffles and I told him that I didn't really want to spend that much today and he handed me the receipt and said they were for me, that he bought them out of his allowance. Normally I would be on those in a minute, but I haven't even opened the box, I'm just all stunned every time I look at it. I know I could be a lot more patient with the boys and that a lot of times I'm not the "fun" parent, but I guess I'm doing ok. Davey's been very sweet too this week, wanting to sit in my lap a lot while we watch TV or talk. I am really very lucky to have these guys. :-)

Jack really is a very sweet soul. He's always been a Mama's boy too and that's fine with me. :-)

He'd take you out now, but he'd have to pick you up on a bike with training wheels. He does know how to ride the bus and can read the schedule though, so that's always an option. ;-)

The other day Dale came in from school and said, "Mom, I got you something with my birthday money." He gave me one of those etched pictures inside of a lucite cube.

Now, the image is of dolphins, which are cute and stuff, but I have no idea why he'd pick that for me. He said, "It was only eight dollars, so it's not that expensive or anything." I'm already hearing the American Express commercial script in my head...

"Lucite cube thingy with dolphins etched inside... eight dollars.
Son who loves his momma beyond all understanding... priceless."

I love that boy. They never cease to amaze me with the depths of love in their hearts.

When I was younger, I always pictured myself having a daughter. Boys were a big surprise for me, but possibly the biggest surprise about them is how sweet and loving they are. I had no idea what wonderful little men those tiny perplexing boy babies were going to turn out to be.
