My job interview this morning went really well. It was a second interview and I think they were only calling back one other person. We spent more time gossiping about mutual acquaintances and laughing about social work than I did answering questions. That's always a good kind of interview and I think that the people I'd be working with are really nice, but I still think I'm going to take the DHS job.
Working directly for the state sucks, but I'm afraid that this other job might dry up if the state cuts back on contracted services. And I'll already have 5 years seniority if I go back to DHS, so if they have layoffs, I won't be in trouble. And I'll have a lot of leave and good insurance. And be eligible for promotion before too long, if I want that. The salaries are more or less the same, so that's not a consideration.
Maybe I'll win the lottery before next Wednesday so I won't have to decide.
