My house is too crowded and I didn't want to make a space to put up the Xmas tree, not to mention the sheer hassle of getting it out and then even worse, the putting it away again in a month. I also did not want the kids to miss out on a tree or the fun of decorating. So we went to Target today and bought a shiny white fiber optic tree about a yard tall, set it up on the dining room table, surrounded it with glittery cotton snow, decorated it with tiny shiny ornaments, hung some lighted stars from the curtains above it, and set our glowing Buddha by it, cause we figure Buddha's fine with the Xmas tree. Voila! No hassle tree that I can put away in 5 minutes flat! I'm basking in its fiber-opticy glow right now and it's making me happy.

This sounds like a fabulous idea. I don't think we have ANY room for any kind of tree atm. I'm actually glad, because like you, the hassle isn't worth it.

lol.. i'm skipping the tree and getting a light up dog... it has shiny lights... it counts.. it'll be a christmas doggie! Plus, I don't want the cats murdering the tree again like they did last year.. it was a waste of time and money.

AAuugghhh - I'm jealous!
I have no place for a tree-sized tree right now either, but my kids would have a collective cow if I did that.
Maybe they'll give up BEDS , they want a tree so badly!
>:)

(we do have a fake tree, but it's real-tree sized, sigh)

You are the second person I have heard from today that has opted for the white fiber optic yard high tree.. Me I think that is a FINE option! And yes.. Buddha is fine with Christmas.. Hannukah, Yule or any other tradition you want to employ.. That's why I like Buddha.. he is multi tasking in the belief field, he's open to whatever floats your boat. And trees that make the holiday's less stressfull.. WAY o.k.in my line of thinking. Yes I will be trying to put up my fake tree that we've had for mumble mumble years.. but more for my kids and family and to have room to hang all my ornaments collected and gifted to me by family and friends who are no longer around. Bask in the fiber-opticy glow.. and the holiday will be much happier for you!

I'm thinking of doing something similar this year too. I'm hoping to move us to a new place sometime this month.
