Ok, the trip to Six Flags over Texas this weekend. We got there before the gates opened and when they opened the ropes we ran in to try to go on the Titan, which is a steel coaster about 255 ft. tall. It was closed however, because there was a severe weather watch from the national weather service. Same with the Texas Giant (a wooden coaster 143 ft. tall.) We let the kids ride a couple of small rides and then they closed every single freaking ride in the park! We all had to go in the theater for the Spongebob 4D ride and wait out the weather, as it had actually started storming by then. The kids were whiny about not getting to ride anything and R and I were worried that it would be like this all day, but eventually it cleared up and by noon they had most of the rides going again, aside from the big coasters. We took the kids on the Runaway Mine Train, which is a classic small coaster and Jesse (9) loved it of course. Dingo (5) thought it was scary, which is just bizarre as he's ridden Space Mountain, Expedition Everest and the Tower of Terror with no problem at all, but whatever. He rode the Mini Mine train a number of times though and loved that.

We rode several of the small rides like the swings, the train, the sombrero, the Mine Train again, and the Yosemite Sam Gold River (a boat ride) while waiting for the coasters to open. We let the kids play some ganes too and Jesse won a giant Bugs Bunny that we then had to haul around the rest of the day. We rode the Runaway Mountain ride too, which is somewhat Space Mountain-like. It's a twisty indoor coaster in total darkness and was great fun. You can't get a good impression of how high it is when you're in the pitch black, but I understand it's just about 50 feet tall. We actually rode the Spongebob 4d ride too, which was a lot more fun than just using it as a weather shelter. It was a pretty active simulator 3d kind of ride/show.

They finally opened Titan at 3:30 and we left Jesse watching Dingo on the Sidewinder (a scrambler type ride) and gave him $20 for concessions and inbstructions where to meet us while we waited through the 30 minute Titan line. Titan was just awesome. It's the tallest coaster I've been on and that first drop was just exhiliarating. (Before that my tallest coaster was the 205 foot Mamba in Kansas City, I think.) It ran you back up through more really tall drops and curves and was just well worth the wait to get on. Very scary and fun! I would have gone again immediately if not for the line. R had had a chili dog for lunch and didn't feel entirely well after we rode though, so we retrieved the kids and went off to ride more kiddie rides and shop a little. By late afternoon, the lines were starting to thin a little and R volunteered to watch the kids on their rides while I went off to ride Batman: The Ride, as he still was not feeling like riding another coaster. Batman is one of those rides where you're suspended under the track in seats with your feet hanging down and it turns you over a couple of times, plus has about three areas where you corkscrew around the track. I loved it of course and have never been on that style of coaster before. After I met back up with the boys, Jesse and I went to ride Judge Roy Scream, which is an older wooden coaster about 67 feet tall that I remember from my own childhood. It's just about Jesse's speed right now. He won't go on the biggest coasters, but he does fine on wooden coasters under 100 feet. We went back to the mine train area after that and let the boys ride their respective mine trains several more times.

We were getting pretty much ready to pack up and leave then, but it turned out R and the kids wanted to go up in the Oil Derrick observation tower and since I don't really like heights like that (funny, huh?) I ran off to see if there was a line at the Texas Giant while they went observing. There wasn't and I got to walk right up and get on the first train. I have ridden the Texas Giant before, but I guess I had forgotten just how much it rattles you around. VERY rough ride, even for a wooden coaster. I guess because it's faster than most wooden coasters I'm used to or something. It was fun and exciting, but I just felt jarred by the end of it. I was pretty much ready to go after that. R's pedometer said we had walked almost 9 miles and it was almost park closing time, so we made our way up to the exit. I'm disappointed we didn't get to go on La Vibora, which is a bobsled style coaster and Jesse said he was willing to ride with me. I've been on it before, but I wish he'd gotten to go. Still, after a very disappointing morning, we had a fabulous afternoon and evening and I feel like we got our money's worth even if we missed a few things. The kids seemed very happy with the day.

So anyway, Mr Freeze and Flashback were closed for the season, and we missed another big ride or two, but I did make it on Titan, the Texas Giant, Batman: The Ride, Judge Roy Scream, and the little classic Runaway Mine Train which is a nostalgic favorite of mine, and that seems like a pretty good coaster day, no? If you want to look up stats for any of these coasters, there's links at http://www.aceonline.org/census/parkDetails.aspx?id=2093

So our trip this weekend. I think I'll post it in two parts, one for the trip to FenCon and one for Six Flags, so I can crosspost the Six Flags section to a roller coaster community I'm in.

We left Friday after work (R, the kids and I) and ate at the Okmulgee DQ on the way. We also had to stop at Walmart and for gas and we had to stop at a 7-11 for Jesse cause he loves 7-11 and we don't have any in Tulsa. We found the hotel with no problem and the trip took right at 5 hours even with stops, so that was pretty good. My folks were already there and we found them right away. R and Dingo pretty much went right on to bed, but Jesse and I walked around with my Mom for a little while and got drinks and snacks at the consuite, then came back and went on to bed. I woke up about 5:45 the next morning, which is unusual for me, but it was nice as it gave me time to have a nice long bath and do my makeup and stuff before the boys started wanting the bathroom. Jesse got up about 6:45 and we went down to the hotel breakfast buffet, which we both thought was very good plus they let Jesse eat free. After we went back to the room we sent R and Dingo down to eat and then just hung around a while before heading out to Six Flags.

I'll post about Six Flags next, but I will say now that we got there before they opened and stayed til they were making people leave, so I guess we had a pretty good day out of it. R's pedometer said we walked almost 9 miles there, which is what happens when you take two hyper kids with you. On the way out of Six Flags we bought my Mom a "Pink Thing" (which is a cherry ice cream on a stick) because she used to buy them when they lived in Ft. Worth, and I had to drive like a madwoman through the Dallas area traffic to get it back to her at the hotel before it melted, which turned out to be an adventure in itself. R almost got frostbite and I should have gotten a speeding ticket, but didn't, yay! After we got back, Jesse dressed up in his tux and we all cleaned up and then limped down to the hotel restaurant for dinner. It was past 9 by then and Dingo fell asleep at the table without even getting to eat. After I tucked all the boys in, I went out to a couple of parties and had a very strong margarita at one of them and came back and fell right asleep.

Sunday morning Jesse and I woke up early again and we repeated our breakfast routine from Saturday. After everyone had eaten we went down to the dealer's room and bought a number of things. Dingo got a kitty umbrella with ears and a very nice padded foam sword. Jesse got a print of some art he wanted and a very nice padded foam mace. I got some silver rocket earrings and a silver pirate ship necklace. R got some miniatures and the business card of someone he wants to buy a $275 collector HG Wells book from, which I confiscated, lol. We chatted with people just a little and then headed out to this Korean area near the hotel to let Jesse look at Korean stores (he likes Asian things) and go to lunch. We had intended to drive straight back to Tulsa after that, but as luck would have it, we passed a ginormous outlet mall on the way out of town and killed at least an hour and a half there. The kids got clothes and R and I got closeout books and fancy candy. Then we had to stop at gas stations looking for a certain kind of scratch off lottery tickets, at a McDonalds, at a DQ again, etc. The trip back just turned into an epic journey and we didn't get back til about 8, even though we'd left the hotel by noon. I was very glad to get back and just get to sit down and relax. I was pretty sore this morning though, what with the long car trips, the 9 miles at Six Flags, and the couple of miles at the outlet mall.

So I just got a call from young Jesse on my Mom's cell phone. He's very excited and saying "We're at that consignment sale you sent us to right now and guess what I bought for $30?!?" I say "New slacks to wear to GG's funeral?" which is what I sent them to the consignment sale for, and he replies "No, a TUXEDO! I've always wanted one!"

Um, so now my 9 year old has a tuxedo. We don't EVER go anywhere that one needs to wear a tuxedo, unless they've instituted a new dress code at Burger King since last time we were there. Am I now obligated to take him out to the Warren Duck Club just because he bought a tuxedo?

We're going to the zoo right after work tonight. I hope he doesn't show up in that tux, but I'm not taking any bets.

My grandmother passed away this evening. Jesse isn't taking it very well, poor kid. It hasn't really sunk in for Dingo, except now he says he'll never get the mashed potatoes he loves ever again. He only likes my grandmother's mashed potatoes. We got the word when we were across town tonight and Jesse bawled and screamed his little lungs out all the way home. It's not just this great-grandmother for him, it's all the people over the last year and a half that he hasn't quite worked through the loss of. He feels very insecure. I had a cry when we got home because it wasn't safe to cry while I was driving and then once I was feeling a little better I made the boys homemade pancakes because it was what they said would make them feel better. They both went on to bed a little bit ago and I'm going on to bed too pretty soon here. I have a little headache, which probably isn't surprising.
lisamoe: (Jesse and Dingo)
Today at Campfire, the kindergarteners (Dingo is a kindergartner as of today!) and first graders were playing Simon Says.

Leader: "Simon says look happy!" (Kids look happy)
First kid: "Simon says run in place!" (Kids run in place)
Second kid: "Simon says look mad!" (Kids make angry faces)
Dingo: "Simon says act like a black hole!" (Kids look around, puzzled)
Leader: "Dingo, I don't think they understand what you mean, can Simon tell them to do something else?"
Dingo: "Simon says eat a big worm."

Clearly, Dingo is off to a rousing start at Campfire this year. Jesse, while more cooperative and also clear on the concept of black holes, was entirely unable to make a simple mobile from a coathanger, string and beads. You know how smart he is, but he just can't cope with crafts. If it has popsicle sticks, yarn, glue or involves scissors, it's very likely going to be a big frustrating mess. He's more of an idea man.

Jesse called me a few minutes ago to beg to be in another Theatre Arts class this fall. He's already enrolled in one, but I caved and said he could do another one if he'd call out there and find out if the classes were full yet and if he could talk his grandma into taking him an extra time a week. Dingo is enrolled in a theatre class also and we're getting him signed up for soccer, plus both boys are going to be in a boys gymnastics class down at Reed Park again and are going to go to a homeschool PE sort of class at Whiteside Park too. All that, along with Campfire and Cornerstone will probably be just about enough classes for the fall. They can sign up for individual special events, but I don't think we're going to need any more ongoing obligations.

Jesse has looked over the PASS skills for 4th grade and decided that he wants to knock those out first (he's already through a lot of them of course) so that he can concentrate on his own interests the rest of the school year. We're very willing to follow the kids' interests as far as what they study in depth, but we always make sure they finish the year having completed all the PASS standards for their grade level in addition to whatever else they studied. Jesse is still very interested in geography, other cultures, creative writing, and math, so I expect he'll be doing a lot of those this year.

This is Dingo's first year of school and I expect he's going to want to work on math too (he seems to like it a lot) and on simple astronomy, science and learning about animals, which seems like enough for a kindergartner, since he's already pretty much done with his kindergarten PASS skills. He needs to work on his reading and writing, but we didn't push that with Jesse and probably won't with Dingo either. Jesse reads and writes fine now, but was slow getting started with it and I think Dingo's going to be the same way; he'll get there when he's ready. I don't want to nag him about reading until he ends up hating it. Both kids love to draw almost incessantly when they're not doing something else and I can see constant inprovement in their drawings, so I think we have art class covered for now.

Sounds like a busy school year, no?

Somehow, Jesse managed to find a Bill and Ruth's sandwich shop today that's run by a nice Japanese couple who also sell nice fresh sushi and miso soup there. You never know where my kids are going to end up any given day. I made a creamy chicken noodle soup for dinner, but the kids were too full from the excursion to Bill and Ruth's to eat anything.

I dyed my hair back to dark brown tonight. I was getting too much contrast between my roots and the ends, which have been dyed a variety of light reds, so I figured I'd dye it all back to something darker to match the roots and then start over with red again when I dye it next and hope it goes on more evenly. It's a shock to look in the mirror and see the change. I'll try to get a picture of it for your perusal, but even if everyone hates it I'm probably going to leave it this color for a while.

After my hair dye fest, the kids and I played Cranium Conga and did some Mad Libs tonight. I should have been folding laundry, as I've got a huge laundry problem brewing here, but playing with the kids was more fun and laundry will still be there when I get to it, right? Dingo's still got a fear of zombies going on so I'm letting him fall asleep in here on the couch while Jesse reads and I check lj. I'll carry him to bed after he falls asleep.

I'm really sleepy and was just kind of lethargic at work all day. I still don't think I've caught up from the weekend. I was up really late Friday and then the next two nights I just didn't sleep well for whatever reasons. I'm going to try to go lie down in a hour or so and see if I can't shake this fatigue by tomorrow.

Yesterday evening, Jesse greeted me at the door with 2 lbs of lean ground beef, a large jar of spaghetti sauce, some bread crumbs and some grated parmesan and asked me if he could borrow my slow cooker, which may be an odd thing for one's 9 year-old son to ask, but you know Jesse. He wanted meatballs for breakfast so he wanted to slow cook them overnight. I helped him just a little, adding spices, but basically, he made them himself. They smelled great when I woke up this morning and he went ahead and ate a few, but I decided to save mine for dinner tonight. Hopefully he won't eat the entire crockpot of meatballs while I'm gone today.

I'm really happy with him wanting to know how to cook. So far, he can at least make meatballs, waffles from bisquick, spaghetti, and vegetable soup. Plus Mom said he cooked some of their meals on the camp stove when they were in Colorado. He asked me this week if I could teach him to flip pancakes and eggs, but we haven't worked on it yet. I think he's doing well for a 9 year old though.

So more yay! I had written to another high school friend of mine about the reunion and she wrote back this week with an update on her life and now we're exchanging emails. She and I were close in high school and she was one of my bridesmaids when I got married the first time. I saw her at her own wedding and one time after I think, but not since then, even though she just lives near Joplin which is less than 2 hours away. She has two little boys too, one just Jesse's age. Anyway, it's good to be back in touch with her. That's three old friends that have stumbled back into my life within the last two weeks. I guess it was just the right time.

Today I started a new thing with the kids. I've been a little overwhelmed with going back to work and still trying to keep the house up, so I'm leaving the kids a short list of chores that will help me out on any day that they aren't already busy with field trips or something. I know it's going to be my Mom that has to prod them into doing it, but hopefully they'll get more used to it soon and will do it on their own. Today they're to take the trash out, move the clean clothes out of the dryer and put the washed ones in it, put the potatoes and carrots into the roast I left slowcooking, and wash their hair. That seems like a very small amount of stuff, but even that much that I don't have to do or supervise will help me out. And time they're doing that is time they're not messing something else up, lol.

After we went to The Barnyard last night, I went and bought a new slow cooker. I got a big 6 quart one with a locking lid and big handles that don't get hot so you can take it to potlucks. I'm hoping to cook a slow cooker meal a couple of times a week because it's great to come home to dinner already done and I can also cook a lot healthier that way than I do when I fry stuff to get it done quick. I'm going to use those crockpot liners too and see how I like them. They seem like a good idea. Oh, and The Barnyard was a real stinker. My kids said they liked it "ok," but they didn't ask me if we could get it on DVD or ask to go back, so I know they weren't crazy about it. It's probably an adequate kids movie, but *all* the funny stuff was already in the commercials, the music was overall mildly irritating, the fact that all the "boy cows" had huge pink udders was distracting throughout, and though the farm animals were animated well, they were so poorly concieved that you sometimes couldn't even tell what kind of animal they were supposed to be. I'm glad we only paid $2 apiece.

Ok, guess I'd best find some work to do.
lisamoe: (giftshop)
Well, I went over to a sci-fi convention in town this weekend. There were a few people there I could have lived without seeing, chief among them some fruitcake ex-friends who tried to fuck with me a couple of years ago just to stir up some excitement for themselves, I guess, but we ignored each other, so that was fine. I *thought* about jumping out at them and hissing "I'm the DEVIL!" at them in the hallway as they looked a little nervous about me already, me being so unpredictable and eeeeeevil, but decided just ignoring them was the better part of valor. I saw LOTS of people I was happy to see, including but not limited to [livejournal.com profile] jimmyhollaman, [livejournal.com profile] esme7777, [livejournal.com profile] tapestry01, [livejournal.com profile] theblkrose, [livejournal.com profile] chibi_jeni, [livejournal.com profile] revlayle, [livejournal.com profile] rohanna and [livejournal.com profile] ozarque (who I got to actually stop and talk to for a bit!) and LOTS more people, some of whom don't even have an lj or I don't know their lj name, lol. I made some new friends too, which was also great.

Jesse was in the Saturday evening play at the con as the special effects guy and as a very cute robot. He was kind of a shoo-in for the part as his Dad writes and directs the play every year. It was pretty good. They did a parody of Forbidden Planet and I haven't seen that in 25 years, but it was still funny and had lots of other random sci-fi references. There's a webpage about previous performances at http://penguinplayhouse.org. I was in some of the plays til I realized I don't like to be on stage. Up til a couple of years ago I worked on props and stage management (such as it was) but all I do is go watch Jesse in the plays now, which is, I must say, less stressful.

Other notable cool stuff at the con was the guys walking around with various raptors from The Royal Gauntlet, some nice parties, and I got to play Great Dalmuti for an hour or two today. One guy at my Dalmuti table was kind of being a jerk to me and when I called him on it he got all pouty, but whatever. I think if you're being a jerk to me I have the right to say so. The raptors were very nice to see up close and Dingo got to pet a big hawk, and I'm glad the raptor rescue place was the con charity this year. The suckiest part of the con was that they have cancelled having a real dance now and have replaced it with someone trying to teach Regency Dancing, which is about as popular as you might imagine. The same five people were in a huge ballroom all evening trying to learn. I'm not against learning archaic ballroom dance, but they could have done that in the afternoon sometime and had a fun dance everyone could enjoy in the evening.

Overall, even though it's not really a party con, I had a pretty good time, owing largely to Jesse's excitement at being there and to getting to see so many old friends. Maybe next year Dingo will be old enough to enjoy it more.
lisamoe: (Davey2006)
Today at work I was just trying to keep busy. I found some things to do though and got to talk to some of the other staff. I grow ever more convinced this will be a good job for me. Jill called me this morning and we laughed so hard on the phone about dumb stuff. We're going to lunch tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it a lot; it probably goes without saying that I miss her. Then in the afternoon [livejournal.com profile] moonpack_alpha texted me about going out to Caz's tomorrow night. So a full day of girl friend fun, yay! I feel loved. :-)

This evening Dingo and I did some shopping and then put on mosquito repellent and played in his little pool til dinnertime. Jesse's at R's for play practice again so Dingo and I have had a nice time hanging out together. After the play is over, R is going to take Dingo to do some with just him to even it out. They both love having Daddy all to themselves for an evening.

After Dingo goes to sleep, I'm going to go take a warm bubble bath and read magazines. It's been a good day and a calm evening.
lisamoe: (Jesse and Dingo)
Ow, ow ow. Stupid endometriosis.

Work was slow today, as you might expect, but I did manage to snag a client. A few more and I can look busy more convincingly. I also got some forms I needed and some office supplies and a little bit of training.

Jesse came down with adenovirus suddenly yesterday morning. He's been to the Dr and is recuperating, but is still just a little feverish and tired. He's been lying down all day yesterday and today and not talking much, which is not like him at all. He ate soup today and asked for chicken and rice for dinner, which I made. No one else seems to have caught the virus, for which I'm grateful.

I'm going to go get comfortable in my bed and play a board game with Dingo and let Jesse lie down with us too, if he likes. It's nice and cool in my bedroom.
lisamoe: (Davey2006)
I knew we had wasps hanging around the back door, but hadn't done anything about it so far because they weren't buzzing us or anything. But tonight two got in the house and Dingo stepped on one and got a very bad sting on the ball of his foot. After an emergency trip to Walgreen's for sting relief gel with a very sad 5 year-old, I searched out the nest and committed some wasp genocide, for which I do not feel a bit bad.
lisamoe: (Jesse and Dingo)
Today the kids and I went to a birthday party for one of their friends and then to a wedding at a restaurant. Can I just say I LOVE these kids. Despite any little struggles at home, they both know how to act in public. They generally do what I say without much fussing, they don't throw fits, if they don't like the food they're polite about it and don't make a big deal, they shake hands and introduce themselves (well, Dingo only about half the time on this one, but he's just 5), they don't whine for things, and they just know not to create a commotion in public places. I know people think I spoil them too much, but it seems to me like I'm getting results I'm happy with, so whatever.

We saw lots of other kids today too and they were all pretty good. The bride's son at the wedding was just being great. He showed Dingo how to play his Game Boy and he gave his boutonniere to Jesse and came over and talked to my folks very nicely. I was very impressed with him.

Anyway, I just wanted to say I'm proud of those kids and pretty happy they've gotten to an age where I can take them out and know we're going to get through events, even grownup events, without a big scene. :-)
lisamoe: (cantbuylove)
Today Mom and I took the kids to OKC to the Omniplex. Jesse got to hold a tarantula as big as his hand. He was very brave about it. I was brave to stand nearby and take a picture of it. Dingo got to play with lots of science exhibits and we all got to see the IMAX movie Fighter Pilot which was very good and exciting.

We went because the kids wanted to take a couple of day trips before I go back to work. We may go back to Eureka Springs too. Last time Dingo wasn't feeling well and it made the whole trip kind of a drag, so we'd like to try again and I won't have any more weekdays free for a while after the 17th unless I have more flextime than I'm anticipating.

Ok, off to get some stuff done.
lisamoe: (Jesse and Dingo)
Last night R and I took Jesse to South Pacific down at the Performing Arts Center. He's enjoying musicals a lot and they had discount tickets last night, so it seemed like a good thing to do. He enjoyed it, but it was a little long for him, particularly the romantic parts. The fun ensemble songs went down well though. Of course the plotline about the girl not wanting to marry the guy because he had Polynesian children just mystified him and I had to explain it at the intermission. Even then he said "That's just STUPID!" Dingo was upset at not getting to go so I had to promise to find a children's play soon to take him to.
lisamoe: (Default)
Yesterday the kids and I and R and [livejournal.com profile] a_spirited_soul and her kids all packed up in her van and went to the Castle RenFaire in Muskogee. I risked being mocked and wore my non-authentic but still cute faire dress. My boys wore the wizard hats they got at the Norman Faire and when we got to their friends' house to pick them up, the other little boy had a matching wizard hat so they looked very cute together. I got my hair braided first thing, which is pretty much my favorite thing to do at a faire. We went in the maze, watched an acrobatic/juggling act while we fed all the kids, then we shopped a little and took a carriage ride. We sent the kids in the first carriage and we grownups rode in the second one. Apparently the children's horse farted during the ride, which was pretty much the highlight of the faire for them, I think.

We went in the Castle and sat for a while to cool off and while there saw [livejournal.com profile] moonpack_alpha and [livejournal.com profile] ikol83. I'm always happy to see them. R ran all the kids through the catacombs while we were in the castle. They wanted to go in the torture chamber too, but the Moms in the group vetoed it as inappropriately grisly. After that we ate a little more, shopped a little more, got my Mom a gift, got the boys wooden swords (What were we thinking?!?!) and the girl her face painted. After that we bought fudge and left. Amazingly, our sunscreen held out, everybody made it to the privies as needed and there were no serious injuries, even with the wooden swords, so a good day, no?

Upon return to Tulsa we went out to dinner at Shogun with R's sister's family. His older niece is like 6 feet tall now I think. She's about 14. The 12 year old is marginally taller than me now. His whole family is so freaking tall. I kind of hate just standing around with them anyplace, because I feel like a child. Anyway, the dinner was great, though after all day out in the heat, it was a little warm sitting at that hibichi table. (Hahaha, [livejournal.com profile] jorjedatoy I typed hitachi at first instead of hibachi, and you know how painful it can be when I get those two mixed up, lmao.)

Today is busy busy getting ready for our trip, so I'd best get to it.
lisamoe: (cantbebothered)
Today the cat attacked Dingo and scratched him in several places because he and Jesse were roughhousing and she apparently thought Jesse was being attacked. I don't like the cat anyway and now I don't know what to do. Jesse really adores this cat.

Other than that today was unremarkable. I didn't get anything done but some reading and I watered the garden. I have a lot of small tomatoes.

Tonight I'm wishing I were someone else. Someone interesting or something. I used to be interesting, I think. A long time ago.
lisamoe: (Davey2006)
Dingo and I walked over to our polling place to vote today. They gave him an "I Voted" sticker. He's very proud of it. Jesse learned some about Leonardo da Vinci today. We did a little shopping and a little playing and a little snacking and that's been our day.
lisamoe: (cantbuylove)
I am feeling particularly lucky today, for family and good friends and great kids. Even though I have no money to speak of, I feel downright rich. :-)

--

So Saturday I took the kids to see RV, at their repeated requests. I told them it was probably going to suck and guess what? It did. Not that anyone on my friends list was likely to run right out and see it, but even if your kids beg, don't go just to be nice. There were a few funny moments but I don't think they were the things that were supposed to be funny. Jesse slept through half of it and Dingo was just interested in the popcorn. Fortunately I took drinks in with us and we went to the Sand Springs Cinema which was just $2 a person so it wasn't expensive, but it's still 100 minutes of my life that I'll never get back.

At the movie, there was a lady behind us who laughed all through the wretched trailer for Garfield 2 and I knew that was a bad sign. Apparently, she's the target audience for RV, cause she laughed and commented on the movie all the way through too. I thought maybe she was developmentally delayed and was out with a staff member, but when I looked around, she appeared to be there with her husband and an embarrassed looking 12 year-old boy, both of whom were not laughing. I bet that kid moves out when he's old enough and never looks back.
