Father's Day
Jun. 16th, 2008 01:25 pm Yesterday I made two big lasagnas in the morning. I took one to R's house at lunchtime along with some bread and salad for Father's Day. The kids had bought him a wallet and we had a really nice meal and then played a game of Clue. It was low-key and fun. I would have taken everyone out, but I didn't get paid til today and as it turned out, I think the lasagna was as good as anything I could have taken us out for.
In the evening, I broke out the other lasagna and had my folks over for Father's Day and my Dad's birthday. I had bought Dad a shirt for Father's Day, plus R and I got him a big variety pack (5 lbs) or various artisan bacons for his birthday and we all got him silly cards about how old he is. He seemed very happy with his bacon. He's been looking for artisan bacon. I had to have it shipped on ice because you can't buy it around here, but it was totally worth it. I'm selfishly hoping to score a bacon sandwich out of the deal though. :-)
I'm glad Father's Day was a good day for us, even if it was a little busy for me. Several people on my f-list had a bad day for one reason or another and I feel bad that it wasn't so good for everyone. :-(
