I can't believe your/their schedules. I think they'll both be ready for college in the next few years. :)

To be fair, it's mostly my Mom's schedule. Some of that is in the evening, but most of it is daytime stuff that she gets them to.

*shaking my head* Your poor homeschooled children. I really worry about their socialization with such limited activities. Obviously, you need to work harder to engage them in outside activities. I don't see anything about midnight or 6am courses, so you must be really letting go. . . .

lol (very tongue in cheek)

all very impressive. i heard of home-schooling but always wondered how it works and how people work out activities etc... reading your posts have been fantastic. their interests / lessons are so varied, its better than an actual school any day.

just one i noticed: babysitting cert.?
so is there actual classes (like the drivers ed ye have there)?
it sounds like a great idea!!

The Red Cross gives babysitting classes for kids 11 and up where they learn to change diapers, learn safety rules, games to play with little kids, that sort of thing. Jesse asked to take it. It's not something you'd normally get in school, just kind of an extra for the kids who want it.

its great that he was interested in this. and it will a way of earning money too. if school had some practical stuff like this then some people might last a bit longer and at least people would have the basics.

keep up the good work though!

The Red Cross offers babysitting classes to teach pre-teens & teens how to take care of little children. The classes are similar to the ones they offer on first aid, CPR, swimming & water safety, etc. Jesse has taken several Red Cross classes.

I'm the one who takes Jesse and Dingo to most of their activities during the day. We enroll them in classes that they're interested in or we just study those subjects out of books and publications, from Internet articles, or from watching documentary-type DVDs. Then if there are subjects left that they are supposed to be learning at their age, we study those subjects too but not so enthusiastically! :-)

like i just mentioned above, i think all that stuff is great. very useful and practical. its always easier to learn the stuff we dont need to study isn't it? but still.. it strikes me that he would be better at handling stuff as a result of all these activities.

im actually jealous of him. but its also made me think about somethings i'd like to do.

and as i said to lisa, keep up the good work. :)
