lisamoe: (Jesse and Dingo)

I bought the boys an inexpensive guitar last night to learn on.  They've been asking to learn to play and I've arranged lessons starting later in the month with an older homeschool kid whose whole family is musicians.  We looked through a lot of guitars online and the boys found this one http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Washburn-D100DL-Acoustic-Guitar-with-Gig-Bag?sku=513382  which was in my cheap price range but also got very good reviews.  I figure I'm not out too much if they don't like guitar after they start the lessons; I could sell it again or just learn to play it myself.   I can't sing at all, so I don't know what I'd do with it if I learned to play, but it might be fun to know how.  Jesse seems very motivated to learn and I expect he'll at least give it a good try but I don't know if he'll be any good at it or not.  It's hard to tell about Dingo.  He probably won't know if he likes it til he tries it.  I don't want to push them to play, but I do want to give them both the opportunity.

My Mom teaches the boys how to read music and music theory using a keyboard so that's covered. Jesse picked up the piano fast but didn't like it that much. With the guitar they really just want to rock out and I want it to be fun enough that they'll stick with it. I took piano when I was a kid and it always seemed like such a chore and I don't want them to give up like I did.
