lisamoe: (Jesse and Dingo)

I'm exhausted after too many cities in too few days, coaching a soccer team and trying to keep up with all my normal stuff. Lethargy has overcome my body and I never want to leave this chair or even sit up straight again. I really want a drink but not bad enough to move.

I'm very proud of the boys. Yesterday Jesse, on his own initiative, attended the all day Red Cross CPR and First Aid class. He was the only person under 20 in there and he passed easily and got his official card. He said he ate lunch with his adult classmates and they told him they were amazed by his vocabulary.

Today Dingo was a super defender in his soccer game. It turns out that the other team cannot get past him. They scored two goals on us and they were the two quarters that Dingo didn't play because you have to rotate the kids out. I wish I could play him the whole game. I heard the referee and the other parents commenting to each other how great he was doing. He seems to have found his niche and he was so happy with himself. He must have kicked the ball away from our goal at least a dozen times today, The poor goalie had nothing to do.

Today Jesse participated in a poetry competition at the library. 4th and 5th grade kids were to do oral interpretation of a poem in front of an audience. Jack read "You Are Old, Father William" by Lewis Carroll and he did a great job. I love how he has not the slightest shred of stage fright and is so easy with audiences. I was amazed at how many kids showed up on a Saturday for something related to poetry and furthermore seemed to be into it rather than just having been dragged there by their parents. There were 40 or 50 entrants and I had not expected that.

Oh, and tonight a waitress told me that my boys were super polite when they ordered. I hear that a lot actually, but I never get tired of it. They act better in restaurants than many grown men I know, and that's pretty happymaking for me. I'm amazed at the number of people I've been out with who are curt and surly with the waitstaff for no reason and I find that pretty unappealing.

Ok, I'm going to slump in this chair some more now. It turns out that I have to sit up slightly to type and that's eating into my slumping.
