lisamoe: (Jesse and Dingo)

Jesse brought me the first part of his screenplay the other day. I thought it was very funny and pretty good for a 10 year old. He wants to make this movie and enter it in a local film festival. That actually sounds like fun. He says he has about a quarter of the script done, which is more of a script than I've ever written, so go Jesse!

In other news, last night I took the boys out to the roller derby to see the Green Country Roller Girls. They laid waste to the Arkansas team to the point where I was feeling pretty bad for Arkansas. The girls on that team were bigger girls, but more inexperienced and not as good at just the basic skating as our girls. I imagine they'll get better in time. Anyway, Jesse and I liked it a lot, but Dingo said it was boooooorrrring! Dingo would rather be skating himself, I gather, instead of watching someone else skate. I told Jesse I'd take him back to the next meet on March 9th, so if anyone else is interested in seeing flat-track roller derby, come along with us. It's $10 in advance for adults and kids under 12 are free.

Contingent on scheduling, count me in. I have been intending to go, but never gotten organized enough. If you will provide the organization, I will go.

And it really says something about me that you are better organized than me.

I think that ten bucks is too much, mainly because I'm a cheap bastard. Heck! I could go to a hockey game for that and buy a small drink, the last time I checked at least...
All that aside, I never do fun things, especially if I am not specifically invited. A blanket invitation could be directed at everyone else BUT me, y'know. :-P
Please, do me the kindest favor of rooting for Teka Chilpil for me, if you would.

$10 apiece would be a lot for us, but since the kids get in free it works out pretty cheap. And the snacks at the roller rink were reasonably priced as such things go. We went to a "free" baseball game this year and it ended up costing me nearly $40 for snacks, yipes!

I do not respond to blanket invitations either, but I did think since it's a public event, anyone who wanted to go could whether they wanted to try to go with me or not.

Some friends recently had a party that I knew about from mutual friends but wasn't specifically invited to and one of them posted on his lj that people should let him know if they wanted an invitation. That is totally foreign to me, to ask someone for an invitation. i sort of assume if you want me there you'll let me know, and if you haven't there's probably a reason. That said, if you'd like to hit the roller derby with us, you're specifically invited. :-P

YaY! Go Jesse! He was so animated when he talked about the story and script, I'm glad he's still working on it.
