This weekend I saw two free movies. One was Wings (1927) at TCC-Broken Arrow, which was a silent movie complete with live organ music just like you would have heard it back in the day. Good special effects for the time, predictably melodramatic script. Very interesting with the organ music. It was sponsored by the Oklahoma chapter of some Organ Music Appreciation Society and they even had free popcorn and drinks. I love that kind of thing.

The other film was Pale Male at the Circle Cinema, which was a documentary about a red-tailed hawk living in New York City. (I called it a hawkumentary because I'm dorky like that.) It was funny to see all these New Yorkers totally worked up about a bird that you can find on every fencepost here in Oklahoma. I liked the film though and even the kids were pretty enraptured with it. I believe they're showing it again next weekend because they had to turn so many people away at the show I went to. Get there early if you go; the info should be on the Circle Cinema website.

Next on my list to see: Juno, but I bet I can't see it for free, dang it.

Wings

I really liked Wings. I thought Clara Bow was adorable in it and I really loved that ambulance driver uniform she had. I would dress like that all the time if I were cute enough to get away with it.

Wow. That sounds awesome... and so grown up. I wish I did things like that. Sigh. Maybe somedday.
