lisamoe: (giftshop)

So here's the deal. There was an Xmas gift I was expecting to get from somebody and I didn't get it. It was going to be sent to me from the place it was purchased, not hand delivered. Now it's no big deal, I got PLENTY of Xmas stuff, but I was almost certain that they'd bought it and had it sent to me. So now I'm wondering if I should ask the person if they sent it to make sure it wasn't lost along the way, which if it was, I'm sure they'd want to know, but if they changed their mind at the last minute and decided not to send it, then it would be awkward for me to ask. How would you word it to not sound like you were grubbing for additional presents, which I'm not; I'm very grateful for the nice things I did get which were plenty by themselves. I mean, it would be a nice thing to get, but I'm more worried that they DID pay for it but it never reached me than that they didn't send it in the first place. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I'm not sure what the "correct" answer is, but I'd mention to the person that it hasn't arrived, yet. If they'd told you they were getting it, and you definitely expected it, it seems to me that they'd want to know if you haven't received it.

Try Fedex and UPS .com's. They'll have tracking to your address if it's being sent through them... that way, at least you'll have some idea:)

I think you'd need a tracking number first, though.

I asked and it turned out he hadn't sent it but he had intended to, just got distracted from it. I have it now!

That's good to hear! So are you going to let your loyal LJ readers know what this secret gift is? ;-)

No! It's too top secret! No actually, it's a gift certificate to Lush.com. I really adore their stuff, but it's too expensive for me to justify buying it for myself, so when I get a gift certificate it's a wondrous thing to get to shop there and not feel guilty.
