Huh, that's weird...

My mother just called me at work to tell me that Jesse is playing the piano. Reading from sheet music and everything. I told her that Jesse doesn't know how to play the piano and she said that apparently he does. I find that mildly strange.

Oh well, off to Spaghetti Warehouse and Mamma Mia tonight with R and Jesse. Hey, maybe he can fill in if the piano player falls ill.

Hahaha, I doubt he's up to recitals yet. I'm just impressed that he can read music and play at all. I think his musical theatre classes, where they work on voice, has taught him some music theory. And my Mom, who plays pretty well, has gone over the basics with him. If he seems to like it, I'm going to see if he either wants lessons or wants her to keep working with him more intensively. When I asked him about playing yesterday he said "You can figure out the music by knowing where C is, and I read that all students should have a basic knowledge of piano by fourth grade." He's such a little weirdo. :-)
