Last night we saw Pirates at the Admiral Twin drive-in with [livejournal.com profile] a_spirited_soul and her kids. I want to see it again sometime on a better screen with less dealing with excited kids, but the parts I saw were very good. The kids act a LOT better in a real movie theater, but the excitement of hanging out with their friends at the drive-in pretty much killed any chance of sitting still and watching the movie or say, letting ME watch the movie. I enjoyed the evening, in any case, and talking with Allison for a while after the movie.

Today has been, well, a day. It's about to let up though, and I've got pork chops and broccoli with cheese cooking. I haven't eaten anything today except one of the big cinnamon peach muffins I made this morning. Hmmm...I wonder how it would be if I broke one in half in a bowl, heated it back up, and then put ice cream on it. Pretty good, I'm guessing.

ok, started to ask for the recipe, but that would not be good on my diet. I'll ask for it in a month.

I had a great time last night!

Heh, no real recipe. I took a Cinnabon streusel muffin mix, made it according to the directions, and added a few cut up peaches. I reduced the amount of water since the peaches were very juicy.

Not to brag, but I saw Pirates the day is came out on an Imax screen with the mega sound system. There was a whole group of us from work who went to see it. One of my managers does reinactments of pirate times. Heck, he got married as a pirate, the whole wedding party, including the preacher and both sets of parents, were dressed in period garb for it. There were probably 15 of us.

It wasn't a bad movie, but I wasn't as enamored with it as I was the first two Spiderman movies or the first two X-men movies. I found it a bit uneven with an abrupt ending. Still, going to a drive-in is fun. We don't have one near us and I miss the darn things.

Before the movie proper started, when they were doing the Disney logo stuff, I loudly said to the entire theater a shocked, suprirsed, and vaguely annoyed voice: "This is a Disney movie?!" Biggest laugh of the night, movie included.

Heh.

I'm in it for the Johnny Depp with long hair and eyeliner. The plot is purely incidental, so I was pleased. And the abrupt ending just means there'll be another movie with...Johnny Depp with long hair and eyeliner. :-)

I still haven't seen it. :(
I want to really bad. But both times I have gone to see it, they're always packed with teenagers so I just turn around and go home.

I want to go back too. I really didn't get to concentrate on watching the movie at all. I think I'm going to wait a little bit til the crowds die down though, or maybe see if a midnight show on the weekend might not be so terribly crowded.
