Jun. 30th, 2006 01:48 pmR called this morning and our blue kitty we've had 13 years since she was a tiny climby clawey thing was very sick today. She's been slowly getting thinner as she gets older but the last two days has apparently not been eating at all and she was all weak and ill looking today. Mom and I picked her up and took her to R's vet and they are keeping her for the weekend for IVs and antibiotics and tests. She may just have an infection or it may be organ failure. We'll probably know soon. She was such a sad kitty today but I am hopeful. Even as weak as she was she tried to stick her claws in the vet, so she still feels a little like herself.
Jesse is in a couple of selections from Annie tonight at 6:00 at the Broken Arrow Community Playhouse. If anyone's out that way, feel free to come by and see the show. It's...well...you can't buy entertainment like this, that's all I have to say.
I spent some time last night and this afternoon on this:
or enter your username to generate and explore your own dungeon...
I got a really good score once and looted lots of stuff but I was on my Treo and cutting and pasting my results would have "exceeded clipboard limit" so I'm just posting this sucky score. You can try my dungeon or your own or I guess anyone else who has an lj name. It's a cute little surreal take on those old text-adventure games. I particularly liked You are walking through a flooded corridor. Bones are scattered in the shape of jane austen and You find yourself in a candlelit oubliette. You hear the sound of attachment parenting in the distance

Date: 2006-07-01 03:06 am (UTC)At her age a lot of female cats start having kidney problems. There's no pain, but she'll just feel "icky" and might not eat or drink.
Unfortunately, cats don't show kidney problems until the kidneys are 75% non-functional.
BUT - if you guys are willing to do it, you can give her sub-q fluids and supplements that will help immensely.
Kaji has kidney problems. :(
He was acting the same way your baby was and lost a LOT of weight!
Now he gets a sub-q injection of 150ccs of electrolytes every other day, a special food and supplements and he is just the same old obnoxious brat as usual! And he chows down on his food again.
He also gets 1/2 of a Pepcid AC (regular strength) every other day because sometimes they get a sour stomach and that will put them off their food too.
Kitties with CRF (chronic renal failure) can live a good 4-5 years with proper treatment, even at a greatly decreased kidney function!
It's a bit of work sometimes, but he's my kid, ya know?
