I got crabs!

The kids and I went to the mall today and got two more hermit crabs to keep Mr. Pinchy company while Mr. Tries-To-Get-Out digs in and molts. Jack wanted this ginormous one bigger than my fist, with claws bigger than some of the small crabs, but I figured it would just eat the other crabs, so he settled on a more modest one. Davey picked another teeny-tiny one. They seem to be doing well. No legs have fallen off or anything, which is my prime indicator of crab happiness, I guess.

mstami called us while we were at the mall and invited the boys to go on a field trip to Frankoma Pottery next week, which was approved by the committee with very little debate. :-) And spirits are still high over the upcoming Disney-o-rama. So all in all, a pretty good day with the kids today. :-)

The larger of the two crabs is trying on different shells now. He's about the same size as one of the other crabs so we have several the right size for him. He seems excited. (As measured in eyestalk and antennae wiggling.)
