Happy 8th birthday to my wonderful little Jack.

I have no idea how he got so big so fast. The other night I had to carry him asleep from the couch to bed and I realized I can barely lift him. I'm so thankful that he still likes to snuggle up with me though, even at his advanced age. :-)

I hope he likes his presents. I got him a bike, a camera, a toy rocket and a clock that gets signals from the atomic clock so it always stays perfectly set. I think all those will be a big hit. I got Davey a bike too, so they can ride together. mamaduck got them helmets and kneepads. I can't wait to get off work today and see him open his things.

It really is. He was so grownup when his Daddy and I took him out to a Japanese dinner last night. He asked the waitress if he might have Miso soup instead of the kind they ususally serve and was so self possessed about it. He's very poite with waitresses. They comment on that a lot.

I just found out that we will not be able to make the party tomorrow night. Crazy stuff has come up in my family this week, really crazy. I hope we can see you sometime soon though.
