So I was looking at a news magazine tonight and there was some fashion news that had pictures of current runway models. I know this just sounds like sour grapes, but seriously, those girls looked a little ill. I mean, their figures were a little unpadded for my taste, but that wasn't the bad part. It was their faces, which were so gaunt and hollow-eyed that it was kind of disturbing. I'm not sure I'd want to try to look like that, even if I could.

Don't get me wrong, I'd probably give a standard deviation worth of IQ points to be 30 pounds thinner. Obviously, I don't dislike slim women; I'd like to be one (or reasonably fit, anyway.) But these girls just didn't look good at all. They looked haggard and old, with weird scrawny old lady necks, although I'm sure they were all quite young. Anyhow, I know the world would disagree with me, but I think I'd rather look like I do than look ultra-thin and ill.

And I bet with the lights off, I'm more bouncy fun anyway. :-)

Hey there! I'll add you to my buddies list. Don't know why it didn't go through earlier. My computer sucks sometimes.

Caution: Dangerous Curves ahead!

I tend not to give those skeletons with flesh draped over them more than a passing glance, if that. I like my women with the "Hour and a half glass" figure(thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mechanicalfae). Skinny is fine, but meh, not for me.

Bouncy is always better too.

Annnd on that note...*poof*

Most men I know share the same revulsion at the thin models as you. I think those stick models look like skinny boys, which could tell you something about guys who ARE attracted to them. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

It seems to me that the only people who find them truly attractive are women. There's always an exception to any rule, but it seems that other women are the ones who find them attractive. Women misunderstand mens' signals in these area - men might look at them, and even occasionally find them sexy because of the way they dress, move, and act, but if you put them beside a woman with a Figure, who was dressing, moving and acting sexy, and the man would choose the woman with the Figure nine times out of ten.

And when a woman's dressed in everyday clothes, the real woman wins out every time. I love seeing women with a nicely shaped bubble butt and big, bouncy breasts in jeans and a t-shirt, and I wouldn't give one of these skinny models a second glance in those clothes. Don't get me wrong, I don't think a woman allowing herself to become obese is attractive, but I've tried both, and I like curves.

Some of those supermodels look about as much fun to cuddle as a sack of kindling. Bouncy is much better!

Of course, you're right about that, but the phrasing sounds like a Pontiac commercial.

I simply refer you to my comment to willco's LJ entry of Feb. 6, 2003 about Mia Tyler. I don't think I could express my opinion any clearer here.
