My mom's family wouldn't leave today!!! My Dad's mom came over for lunch but she left shortly after dinner and presents. My mom's family stayed and stayed and stayed. And we just sat around the living room and looked at each other. I went off to nurse Davey to sleep, fell asleep myself and when I came back, an hour later, they were still sitting there! They sat there for upwards of 3 or 4 hours, alternately staring and dozing off. I guess I should have offered entertainment of some sort, but I couldn't think of a thing that everyone would want to do. And I kept thinking they'd go. When my hostess fell asleep, I would have gone home.

But other than that, the day was a success. The kids enjoyed their presents, lunch itself went off without a hitch. I got roller skates for Christmas, so I wore them all day, including cooking dinner and setting the table. We had 11 for lunch and I cooked everything except dessert and some relish tray stuff and it was all good. Yay me! My aunt and both grandmothers are good cooks and they didn't nitpick me at all, so I know it must have been ok.

But now I have to face the holday evening, with no plans for festivity and all the good stuff over with and missing absent friends terribly. I hope everyone falls asleep early tonight. Someone brought over some wine last night (We had friends over for homemade pizza and a movie) and I still have it. I'm thinking about getting drunk by myself tonight. For me, one bottle of wine ought to be sufficient. I don't drink much.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas, what's left of it.

Thank you for the invite. As it turned out, my dad asked me to take him down to Dym, so I went there for an hour and a half. It was ok, but no one else I knew was there. Of course on our way out, someone I wanted to talk to was just arriving. I was already bundled up and out in the parking lot, though, so I just said hi and came on home. Bummer.

I think I'm still going to go break out that wine. Maybe just a glass...
