MNO

I went to MNO last night and it was fun. I almost didn't get there, due to a sick baby, a dead car battery and other circumstances beyond my control. But I persevered and made it, only an hour or so late. I had to stop at a liquor store on the way, because [livejournal.com profile] divamama and me decided our bad selves that we would sneak in something to make the coffee more interesting. Yay us!

[livejournal.com profile] jorjedatoy and [livejournal.com profile] dragontamerbrat weren't there and were missed. But we still had a good time. We actually talked about parenting a little bit, believe it or not. And other things. I always feel so good after an evening with the other weirdo mommies. And the special coffee!

I needed it too. It was an awfully long day. I took my baby to the Dr. in the morning and he had a mild ear infection, but it had managed to rupture his eardrum slightly. The Dr said it was healing up perfectly, so no worries, but he wasn't a really happy baby all day. I had to carry him around all during my older son's campfire meeting and by the end of the day I was covered head to toe in baby snot, tears, drool, sticky medicine, etc. Eeeewwwww! Thank Bob, I got a bath and a change before MNO or they would have made me sit at a different table.

Today, a little rest for me, I think.

Woohoo!

My former supervisor at DHS called me today and asked why I wasn't back at work yet. I told her that I was waiting to hear from her colleague, we'll call him Bob (because that's his name) about when to start, what position they were offering, etc. She said, OMG, Bob's MIL died four weeks ago and his wife has been sick and he is so far behind he'll never catch up. She didn't know I was waiting on him to get some of my paperwork done on their end. She said she would take care of it personally. Yay!

I'm not totally ecstatic about going back to work for child welfare, but I really need a job, and need one now, and the pay and bennies are pretty good, all things considered. And I already know how to do it. I haven't heard from my other interview yet, but I mentioned it to Vikki (my-ex boss) and she said she would try to get in ahead of them because they really want me back. I feel loved. ;-)

The other day I was griping at my five year-old about some minor thing or another. You know what he said, in his most grown-up tone of voice?

"Can't we just forget about this and get on with our lives?"

Heh. He sasses me too much, but I love it when he's smart and funny and weird. My kid.
