MNO

I went to Homeschool Mom's Night Out for the third time tonight. I know that must sound colossally boring, but that's only if you haven't been. These are the funniest raunchiest women you could ever hope to meet. I used to belong to a regular playgroup for my kids and I had to just force myself to talk to all these suburban, religious, middle-class bitches. They would try to be nice to me, in a vaguely condescending way, but I was not of their tribe and we all knew it.

My homeschool group, however, is full of real women with real lives. They have hilarious stories about their kids, their sex lives, their wild days of kleptomania and drugs, and almost nothing is too shocking to mention. I have lusted after a group of girlfriends like this for a lifetime, and here they are.

The only problem is that I know we're eventually going to get kicked out of the Borders where we meet. The staff gives us funny looks and other bookstore patrons all move away from us on the group W bench. Maybe it's all the talk about flogging and blowjobs and Uranus, or maybe we're just laughing too loud.

Tonight I met a woman at MNO who lives in a bus with her family and they travel around, painting leather jackets and motorcycles at shows, as best I can gather. She was witty and fascinating and I liked her a lot. Now, that's the kind of person you never meet at suburban white bread playgroups.

Hey!! I just added you to my friends list:)

you homeschool too?!! I am seriously considering pulling my son out of kindergarten to homeschool, so if you know a good group, please let me know..currently I am talking to Cornerstone. My ex told me I Have to prove to him they are going to get the social life they need or else he will expect me to put them back in public school, so I can use all the help I can get:)

I would suggest Red Basket as a hang out, because they are used to people like Layle and I( thats saying a lot;)) hanging out there and being loud and noisy and what not:)

Cornerstone is the group I go to. It's really good, but loosely organized. Different moms plan field trips, projects and playdates, plus they have regular meetings. They have a Campfire group for Girls and Boys too, which Jack really enjoys.

I like it because it isn't affiliated with a church and all the moms are openminded and interesting. Plus the kids seem so bright and are doing so well. And it's for all ages, so if you have more than one kid lots of times they can all go to the same activities.

I was worried about the social interaction at first, but I think Jack gets plenty of socializing, as it turns out. You should try a meeting or two and see what you think.

hey I went to the rollerskating event today with Cerridwyn to see what it was like. Cerridwyn was nervous at first but it turned out great!! I met Brooke, Shawn, Ann, and two other people that I dont remember their names...:(

I also told the school to, figuratively speaking, shove it.
