So, what's the protocol for adding someone to your lj friends list? Like if you don't actually know them, or they're a friend of a friend, but you think they have a good lj and would like to see it every day.

It seems presumptious of me to add someone as a "friend" when he has no idea who I am, but I've been reading his lj and webpage for months and really like his writing and sense of humor.

If it's who I think it is - then just go ahead and add him. If he asks any questions tell him you are my infamous sister :-)

go a head and sign him up. I don't think he would mind, i mean he places it out on the web so its going to be read by people. Plus if you like what he says, then hey its kind a nice way to show you like what he says....

Yeah, I wish they hadn't called it a "Friends List". That seems to load it up with all sorts of extra baggage.

Just add 'im. That is how I had swtsbmsn on my friends list as well as Jacqui. I just found them through my interests search and then added them to my Friends list once I decided I was definitely interested in their LJs.

The real "etiquette" question then comes with do they have to add you to THEIR friends lists. No, they don't. Some feel obligated. It gets me when people as if they can add you to their list, though. Like you can stop them. :P
