For those not on my facebook, I just wanted to say that Jesse's one-act play was performed this last weekend and won 1st place in the audience voting. There were 5 plays, three written by 16 year olds, one by an 18 year old, and Jesse's, written when he was 13. I am both proud and amazed. I wish I could take credit for what an astonishing young man Jesse is turning out to be, but I think it's mostly just that he was born kind of awesome, because he's been astonishing from day one. :-)

I'm proud of both you and Jesse! He's one of two amazing kids.
A friend of mine at work was telling me that she doesn't like homeschooled kids (she volunteers at a community center) and I gave her a lecture :-)

Then I realized that most home-school kids don't have as good a teacher as Jesse & Dingo.

My mom gets the credit for the actual schooling. I will say that homeschool kids seem, on the whole, different than school kids, but I think I tend to like them better, even the overly religious ones. They aren't as receptive to sitting down and fitting in quietly as school kids though, which is one of the things I like, but that probably makes people who work with groups of them nuts.

That is amazing!!! You DO get credit... because you allow him to flourish. A lot of parents stifle their kids natural instincts because its not even recognized or 'accepted'. You are awesome!:)

I don't think I *could* stifle my kids. They're pretty strong personalities.

Well, I don't think you would, but I've seen strong personalities 'stifled'... although its usually referred to as 'broken' and your kids are very lucky to have you (and you, them, because they are amazing kids)

Well he is part of YOU. Or came from you, you know what I mean! I think you can safely take a little piece of the credit. ;-)

Oh, but its SO true! That's why we occasionally say things like "Do you know what *your* child did?!" lol If they do something we don't like they are the other parent's child... definitely. :-)
