I've been really busy lately. I mean, I usually am, but this winter and spring, Jesse has had non-stop plays he's been in (literally, one will start before another is finished!) and Dingo has had soccer, which I've had to coach, plus they have all their normal activities, and it's just been a whirlwind. It will be winding down around the first of June and that will be really nice. Maybe I'll get a summer break too. Right now I am just going to work and tearing up the highways getting kids to activities and that's about all. I could totally use a weekend or two of staying home.

I've been following the news lately about all the budget cuts our state is contemplating and I have been worried that my program, which is a state contract, might be cut. My immediate boss has said he thinks we're ok, but my agency director came in this morning and said he's worried about it. I have been thinking about it and while I like this job a lot and would hate to lose it, the silver lining would be that if I get laid off, I could get unemployment and stay home with the kids for a while and maybe be able to get some home-repair projects done and be able to get a handle on a couple of health issues while I'm not so busy. Yes, it would hurt financially, but I am in a unique position of not being liable to lose my house or health insurance immediately, and basically the financial impact would just mean not eating out and not buying unnecessary clothes and gadgets and such. So either way, I am prepared for whatever news we get in June, when our contract at work is renewed or not. If something like that happens, it's probably the best possible time for it to happen, you know, even if it's not ever an ideal situation.

The budget cutbacks are hurting us at Morton. The state is trying to cut anything they can. I hope that whatever happens with you is for the best.
