I've been decluttering my house and it feels really good, even if I have a long way to go. I've taken many boxes to Goodwill and thrown away many more bags of stuff. I tend to let paper pile up, keep boxes and packaging fron things we've bought, not sort through old clothes and get rid of them, etc, and I've been sorting that stuff on pretty much a daily basis. It's not a showplace now, it still looks interestingly lived in and I have a lot of odd items around, lol, but what we don't have now is piles of magazines, paper, old appliances, dishes and things I don't use. It makes me happy to walk through the house now. I have substantially completed the living room, the dining room, kitchen and bathroom, which means I could actually have people over for pretty much the first time since I've been here. The boys think I've gone plum crazy, because I'm not normally big on cleaning, but they're also excited about the prospect of being able to ask friends over. Of course before they can do that we have to tackle their rooms. Dingo's room is just a matter of picking up around the floor and perhaps sorting out some old toys. Maybe 2-3 hours tops, it's a small room and we cleaned it not long ago. Jesse's room, however, is quite a mess because he (and I) just throw stuff in there for storage and Jesse actually sleeps in Dingo's room. He CAN sleep in his bed, btw, he just likes to sleep in Dingo's room.

The house still needs cosmetic repairs of various sorts, but I haven't been able to finish those things because of the (now gone!) clutter. I need to paint the bathroom and hall, finish tiling Jesse's floor, finish painting the trim in both boys' rooms, repair a couple of ceiling tiles, and cover up some areas where the electricians cut squares out of the sheetrock in the dining room and my room when they were rewiring the house a couple of years ago. Those are the main things, but I think I'm ready to maybe have someone over for dinner even without finishing those first. Someone who isn't judgemental about people's houses, though, lol, because it's still a work in progress.

I just about choked. FOr some odd reason, I saw your icon and read, "At least I'm pregnant!"

Okay. Now that I'm back to normal (forgive me, but it seems every other person on my list has recently given birth or announced a pregnancy, I was afraid it was contagious!)

HOly cow. Do you want to come over and clean?? You're doing awesome:) I love the room where everything gets thrown. Which is usually OUR room... sigh.

Should I become pregnant again, I will announce it by jumping off the BOK tower. All these women with nearly grown children starting over again with diapers and no sleep and no social life seem CRAZY to me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE having kids big enough to stay home alone, to have decent conversations with and who can actually help out with stuff sometimes. Babies are adorable but I don't really like taking care of them.

My room gets some of the random junk, but it's mostly Jesse's room and the hallway. I've got to tackle the hallway too, which we'll probably never use it as a hallway, but we could use it as more efficient storage.

I SO hear you on the baby thing. I have an aquaintance that I think is on child #8? (See how close we are) and I just CAN NOT imagine. I love the freedom that comes with them being older. I love the discussions I can have with them, and see them make intelligent (and sometimes not so intelligent) decisions... I love this step of the way far more than I was led to believe I would! Not that I really believed all the naysayers. I am loving the older child & teen years.

I have been following your progress best I can with my intermittent 'net access- but WHOOOT ! and GO YOU!
If it helps, I just went from the Wagoner house to 1200 sqft in Tulsa, and I have an entire storage shed's worth of crap in Lee's room - he litterally has to smoosh to get to his mattress, lol!

Are you taking volunteers for non judgmental guests? And kind of taking Byn's thread into account as well, I wasn't seeing friends enough as it was - yes, having a baby put more restrictions on my social life.

So yeah, I would love to come over for one of your always-sounding-awesome meals! I just work nights (except weekends). And have a homebody for a husband. And would have my baby in tow. Perhaps we could do it when I have Veronica as she would love to see the boys. I'm pretty sure she finally got over Jesse after he broke her heart. We once had to remind her of that. She'd forgotten. Well, we can hope she has gotten over him. :-P
