Are you crazy?

Mostly honesty is great, but would you really want total honesty about every detail of things? Did you not see The Invention of Lying? Sometimes, just keeping your mouth shut is kind and peacemaking, you know? I once had someone really honestly critique my appearance in a relationship once, and I've never gotten over it! I'm fine with "You look fine," even when I really don't. Maybe some people dig it, but I'd rather be happy than compulsively honest.

I think complete and total honesty is a myth. Frankly, most people do not really want my honest opinion of them and I definitely do not want to hear their opinion of me. As to honesty within a couple - that can only go so far. Larry is an honest person - and prides himself on that - but he also knows when to keep his mouth shut and use some discretion. I do know that he will not lie to me, which I value greatly - but neither am I stupid enough to ask him "Does this make me look fat?".
