Tonight I posted a blog entry on dailykos.com about our trick or treat experience tonight and in it I included that Jesse wants to be taken to Springfield to see Obama tomorrow and now there appears to be a nationwide outpouring of opinion that I should take him. Jesse is laughing his ass off that all these people he doesn't even know are trying to convince me to take him somewhere. Here's a link to my post there if anyone is interested. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/10/31/202517/47/373/648475

Oh that's so funny. I particularly liked the comment that said get out of Oklahoma for a few hours. I guess they felt like you needed an Oklahoma break?

I think going to Springfield to see someone that you already know you're going to vote for is pointless, but I'm WAAAY more pragmatic about traveling (ie: lazy) than you seem to be. Sounds like, to you and yours, going to Springfield is just a pleasant day-trip and not at all out of the question. So, I have no valid commentary on whether or not you should take him, actually. :-P
As for the Kos entry you made, ROCK ON! That's awesome that he had to experience the common clay like that. One of the hardest things I have had to face here, as a dyed-in-the-wool Oklahoman, is the fact that everyone thinks Progressives have no place here. Whether it be old friends who've left for the more socially accepting US coasts or unfriendly strangers telling me to mainstream myself or GTFO, I've faced an ongoing semi-argument my whole life about making Oklahoma more tolerant. Exposing him as a kid to the negative opinions often expressed to Oklahoma-progressives gets my wholehearted approval because it should make it easier for him to formulate his counter-arguments, also easier for him to stay here instead of running off to live where everyone is the same as him. We need more people like Jesse to stay in Oklahoma to help raise it's collective consciousness, as well as it's average IQ.

My wife is at the rally and she called me to report a line of people that is at least a mile long waiting and hoping to get in to see Obama. I'm going to be SOOOO pissed if he doesn't win!!! Springfield, MO, is a very conservative corner of MO. Tough to be a democrat, let alone a liberal. I'm so thankful that so many people have chosen to show up in support of Obama. I've never campaigned for a candidate as I have Obama, actually talking to people to get them to change their minds. I feel as if I have too much invested, emotionally, in this election, but I'm just jazzed as heck at it.
