Dingo is a cheap date. Jesse not so much.
Feb. 3rd, 2008 06:59 pmToday I completely avoided the superbowl. I normally have zero interest in football and the thought of really drawn out football with a million commercials holds even less appeal. I did, however, have a nice lunch with R and the kids at Olive Garden, went to the grocery store, played Guitar Hero, rode my scooter to Big Lots in the beautiful but fleeting warm weather, made avocado soup* (delicious!) and had a nice hot bath. I may yet have ANOTHER nice hot bath actually, after I watch some Rumpole of the Bailey.
It kind of makes up for yesterday afternoon when I took Dingo to Chuck E. Cheese because R had taken Jesse to Joplin for the day for gaming. I enjoyed it that Dingo enjoyed himself so much, but ChuckE is not my favorite place in the whole world. On the other hand, we had a coupon for 70 tokens for $10 and we both hate the food there so we didn't eat, making it a pretty cheap outing, which is something I never have when I take Jesse places.
-------
*Avocado Soup
1 box of Swanson's chicken broth or the equivalent in homemade stock.
1 cup light cream
2 large or 4 small RIPE avocados
Salt and white pepper if you like (I didn't use any)
Chopped fresh or dried cilantro if you like.
1. Mash the avocado flesh through a sieve so that it's very fine.
2. Heat the cream and broth together on the stove.
3. Whisk the avocado mush into the very hot but not boiling cream/broth. (And the salt and pepper if you use them.)
4. Serve immediately, sprinkling cilantro over the soup in each bowl if you want cilantro.
