lisamoeR and I took the kids to Dallas this weekend. We went to Six Flags and had a good time. I finally got to ride Mr. Freeze, whcih was closed the last time we were there. Great ride! We went to FenCon, but not too much of it since we were busy doing other things in Dallas. I made the Saturday night cabaret and masquerade though, and it was pretty good though apparently the fashion in media costumes these days is to spoil a perfectly good costume with a perfectly dreadful lipsync presentation. There were a lot of room parties, but I didn't stay up really late, just popped in at all of them to see if they had good snacks or drinks, lol.
We had a pretty good time just out in Dallas along the way. We managed to eat Asian food of one sort or another for every meal but breakfast. We had Genghis Grill, which is a Mongolian BBQ the likes of which I've never seen, on Friday. We had carry-out Japanese on Saturday and we had Dim Sum at a bustling place called Maxim's in what appears to be Dallas' Asian district on Sunday. We also got by Half-Price Books and bought a lot of software and books, mostly for the kids. Jesse got some reference books and a guide on how to pilot a 747 and Dingo got Zoo Tycoon and Lemonade Tycoon. The drive both ways seemed extra long but was basically unremarkable except for Jesse needing to stop at every single bathroom in two states.
This morning the kids left for a resort in Tennessee with my parents and won't be back til Friday at the earliest. I'm looking forward to a little peace and quiet, but by the weekend I know I'll be dying for them to get home. Fortunately in the meantime, I'm plenty busy myself. I've got lots to do at the office today, R and I are going to a movie right after work, I need to clean house while the kids are gone, then work will take me to OKC Wed, Thu and Fri, so I won't just be sitting around missing them.
