I watched the Grammys off and on last night.  I was glad for the Dixie Chicks for winning, even though I don't have any of their albums.  It's funny, because when I hear them I always like how they sound, but then I just never seem to wander in to the country section of the record store to buy an album because I just don't think of myself as a country music kind of person.  To be fair, I hardly buy any new music, country or not.  My musical tastes were pretty much set by the early 90s and though I listen to and enjoy radio stations playing current hits, I rarely feel moved to go out and buy any new music.  My collection is mostly stuff from my own childhood through my 20s.  Boring, I know.

I don't know...they beat out Willie Nelson and then the short one went "HA HA!" about winning...kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

They have good vocal style...I just don't know about them as people...

I don't think the ha-ha was about the other nominees at all, just a little dig about the way that a lot of people predicted their careers were over. They've been pretty thoroughly reviled for almost four years. I'd probably have a little nasty glee if I won a grammy after all that too.

I like the Willie too. We bought my folks tickets when he came to town because they listened to him when I was growing up. They were too expensive to buy them for me to go too though. Bummer.

I never get into the country section either. I usually buy stuff from Amazon, but I have to already know I like most of it before I'll buy it.

I have to wonder if "they" have forgiven the Dixie Chicks for their (her) comments about the President or if "they've" just decided that Natalie was right. Just a thought.
