Jan. 18th, 2006 07:42 pmWell, today was another Epic Journey in Homeschooling. We packed up a picnic lunch and drove to Claremore to meet
mstami's family at the Will Rogers Museum/Memorial. We spent quite a while there and the kids had a good time and may have actually learned some things. After that we drove to a park down the road and all had lunch together. Tami brought some really good fried chicken and side dishes and dessert and I brought deviled eggs and more side dishes and dessert and we had way too much food. Her daughter was nice enough to take the boys on the playground so the grownups could talk a little.
After that Mom and the kids and I drove to Foyil to see the "World's Largest Totem Pole" which is something of a mystery. It's a large steel and concrete monstrosity some guy put up around 1940 and I don't know why. It's hollow and big enough that you can walk around inside it. The kids think it's cool but Mom and I were mostly just amused at the whole thing. After that we drove on to Vinita to Summerside Vineyards and bought some wine, grape juice, Watonga onion cheese and some buffalo sausage. I got two sweet wines, Sunset and White Cloud. They let me taste them and they were both very good. Jack got a Summerside Vineyard wine glass to drink his grape juice out of and this seemed very important to him, lol. After that we drove back to Claremore to Swan's Dairy for more cheese and stuff and then came home after a quick errand in East Tulsa.
Once home, I bathed Davey and cleaned a little and we dragged Jack's new bed in from out of storage and I set it up and made it and put together his new lamp and am now resting. Which I think I deserve. Maybe I should break out that wine too.
