Jan. 4th, 2006 08:24 pmOne of the hermit crabs has been buried for what seems an overly long time. I looked up what to do and it said that I should brush the sand away and check on him. If he smells like rotten fish, give him a proper burial. If it's just molting cover it back up and let it alone. So we dug down to where he was, moved his shell just a little and...all his legs fell out! Then we realized the legs were all empty and there were more soft legs inside the shell and he didn't smell dead at all, so we covered him up and figure we'll leave him a couple more weeks. I really thought he was dead though, when he fell out in pieces. Scary!
I've moved their tank in on my computer desk in the living room so I can watch them more. I told the kids next time we're near a place to get some they can have two more crabs. This is a pretty good size tank and when one is molting, the other doesn't have any company.
