It's my birthday today, and a happy birthday it is too. I got quite a bit done at work, and then I took off early to go get my hair trimmed and styled. I like it a lot and if I had a digital camera I'd show you, but I don't. I've gotten a DVD I wanted from R, flowers and coffee cake from my supervisor at work, many nice things from another sweet person, a lunch out at Red Lobster from the kids and Mom, and a wonderful lopsided pink layer cake that Jack baked and frosted all by himself. I was almost in tears it was so cute. (And funny. It really looks like it was made by a very earnest 7 year old. :-))

This afternoon I'm getting some nice quiet time and then tonight I have a number of people meeting me for dinner (and I was quite touched at how many people wanted to come celebrate with me.) I am just a pretty happy camper. The year since my last birthday has been an incredible series of ups and downs, but I have to say it's more on the positive side than not. And now that I'm through some of the turmoil, I have to say that I feel much loved, somewhat stronger, and very lucky. I have smart, healthy, strong kids, a good relationship with R, a close supportive family, and friends both IRL and online who are there for me when I need them and who I hope will call on me when they need me too.

I hope everyone is having a great day today on this beautiful spring day and I can't wait to see those of you who are coming tonight. :-)

I'm looking forward to it. I just got my face on, and did my hair ALL funny. heh, It won't stay this way, my hair won't hold a style very well. It's funny, though. See you tonight! I hope I get to sit next to you!

Hahaha! Everyone asks that. "Lisa, when are your kids going to boarding school so I can visit you?" Tragically I am poor and unable to afford boarding school, but for the duration of your visit I'll issue you some riot gear and get out my whip and chair and possibly a cattle prod and try to keep them off of you. ;-)
