lisamoeMy cat that I've had since 1988 died today. She was up and around right until R came home and found her after work this evening. I guess it was just old age. She had gotten skinnier and sleepier over the last year or so, but seemed to be otherwise ok and not in any distress. I'm glad it was peaceful. I'm not all torn up or anything; we had expected that she would probably not last a lot longer. Jack took it reasonably well and we went out and rented a DVD tonight to distract him.
I'm not getting replacement pets as the ones we have go. I got really attached to my brilliant cat Artemis that I got in 1987 and raised from a tiny kitten and when she got a sudden paralyzing blood clot a few years ago and I had to have her euthanized, I decided I just couldn't get attached to any more pets. I have one cat here that belongs to Jack but I just feed her when he forgets. She doesn't really feel like my cat.
Anyhow, other than that, I had a productive day at work and a nice evening with the kids. We bought a huge buttload of groceries today and it took me a long time to get them all put away but I love seeing my full shelves. I cleaned house, I've put a roast in the crockpot to cook overnight for us to eat tomorrow, Davey is asleep, Jack is drifting off and my world is currently quiet and peaceful.
