Jobs aplenty!
Feb. 20th, 2003 10:39 pmSo today I got a call from the supervisor at F&CS who interviewed me a while back. I had given up on that job since I hadn't heard anything, but she said they were just running behind on the hiring stuff and was I still interested and could I come for a second interview with the director and some of the staff next Wed. I told her sure.
Then I checked my voice mail from yesterday afternoon. It was my old supervisor from the state and she said they had a job for me now. When it rains, it pours. Still I feel pretty good that I'm hirable in this economy.
I'm a little torn, because working for the state will be something of a pain in the ass, but the benefits are good and the job is pretty secure, which is not necessarily true of the F&CS job. And the state is a sure thing, whereas I don't have the other job yet, although I have a very good feeling about getting it. I have a feeling too, that the state job will be less work overall, although sometimes it will really suck. At a private agency they may actually demand some kind of results :-)
Anyway, I hope to know tomorrow when I can start at the state, which is what I think I'm going to do. I will be SO happy to have people greet me with something besides "You working yet?" I'm kind of tired of my unemployed status being the main thing my friends and family seem to care about.
